TikTok photo carousels: an easy extra post type for TikTok Shop sellers

Why six-slide photo posts are worth adding next to your videos, how to structure them, and the mistakes that make them look like ads.

Videos get most of the attention, but TikTok photo posts (swipeable carousels) are a useful second format. They are quick to make, they hold attention with every swipe, and they give your account variety between videos.

A structure that works

  • Slide 1: the hook, a question or a bold claim the rest proves
  • Slides 2 to 5: one idea per slide, each showing the product clearly
  • Slide 6: a question that invites comments

Make the product the hero

At least four of six slides should show the actual product clearly, and one should show the complete set exactly as it ships. A carousel full of mood shots where the product is a blur doesn't sell anything.

Avoid the ad look

  • Keep captions short and in the middle of the slide, away from TikTok's buttons
  • Don't fake customer reviews or 'I bought this' framing; use your brand's own voice
  • Put your logo on a real object in the scene, not stamped on as an overlay
Follow a trending post's own story. A carousel that copies the shape of something already working beats a generic template.
